Blackmail - Science Fiction

First when I've heard that album I couldn't believe that that band isn't famous yet. The work the band made with "Science Fiction" should be recognized. It is the most "post-grungest" album I've heard yet. The guitars are heavy, tuned three halfsteps down, perfectly arranged and very melancholic. No other album in my life has moved me more than this one. That album is nothing for pop-music listeners. It's still an underground album. That album brought Blackmail a major deal with Warner Music.

I love this album. If you like intelligent music you definitely will like this album, too. Grunge's not dead, it's still alive. The dynamic is the essential thing on "Science Fiction".

I use the software "Reason" to make electronic Songs. I make it just for fun and I'm not a pro. Here are two songs I've done:

This is a cool song with some classical touches and with a clavinet

Number 29
This is, in my opinion, the best song I've done with Reason. The best part comes after the half of the song is played and the wah-guitar enters. The outro is mega dynamic. One of the best outros ever, imo.

100 viewers - year 2006

Since the start of my blog 100 people have visited my site. I hope it will continue and more and more people will come. The 100. viewer was on time. One day before the new year which maybe will be the best year of my live yet. I will leave my school with a graduation and will go to another school for three years. It will causes many changes.
The best thing about the year 2006 is definitely the "FIFA World Cup" in Germany. I hope Gemany will come far and will win the world cup. But it's only a hope. By the way, the new football is very cool.

Guitar Pro 5

The first time when I've heard about the program "Guitar Pro" was when the singer of the first band I played in told me that he writes his songs with a software. Now, three years late, I have to say that it's the best software for a musician to write songs. Not only to write - there are sites like mysongbook.com or tabx.net where people figures out all the instruments of a song and shares their tabs with the people who want know how to play a song. In my opinion is tabx.net a better site.
The new "Guitar Pro 5" came out about one month ago and I have it and have to say that this program improved a lot. The biggest improvment is that you have real guitar, bass and drums sound. The songs sound like real demos now and not like a midi song. I have made some tabs for Guitar Pro too. Check them out: mysongbook-tabs and tabx-tabs

I'm sure many of you don't know what Post-Grunge is. It's a kind of music. Like Grunge is a subgroup of Indie, Post-Grunge is a subgroup of Grunge. Grunge comes from Seattle. The most popular Grunge-bands were the "Pixies", "Pearl Jam", "Alice in Chains" and, of course, "Nirvana". For many people was the end of the Grunge-era when Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain died in 1994. I remember I saw a documentation on MTV about 3 years ago which went about the positive things of Grunge's "death". They said that without the end of Grunge bands like "Blink 182", "Limp Bizkit", "Korn", ... wouldn't have exist. MTV sucks! I'm sad that there aren't many Grunge bands anymore but let me tell you something about Post-Grunge.

"Wikipedia" doesn't know what Post-Grunge is. Whoever wrote the article about Post-Grunge is wrong. Post-Grunge isn't "Nickelback", "Lit" or "3 Doors Down". Early Weezer was Post-Grunge. Post-Grunge is nearly the same as Grunge but more with melodies and a cleaner sound - but not always. It's just more modern. The funny thing about Post-Grunge is that there's no popular Post-Grunge-bands yet. But there are a few Post-Grunge-bands that deserve to be popular.

The music of today is lame. The TV sucks. The major labels suck. There aren't not many positive thins about the media right now. I noticed that in the 90's when the modern "Pop" was born the trend were popbands which imitated Hip-Hop. Now it is rock. Especially girl-Rock-groups like "Vanilla Ninja". The kids really think that it's Rock. They don't know the meaning of Rock anymore. In Germany the music industry is more worse than anywhere else in Europe. The worst trend right now in Germany is the band "Tokio Hotel". They are all about 16 and really think they're big but they are only marionettes of the big music labels. So I think it's time to make something new.

The only real Post-Grunge-band which has a chance to get big is "Blackmail". They're coming from Koblenz, Germany. I wonder that such a great band is coming from Germany. I don't know any other band from USA or elsewhere which makes Post-Grunge. The best thing about "Blackmail" is that the members of the band have some projects which are even as good as "Blackmail" or even better. The singer of "Blackmail", Aydo Abay, has a group which is called "Ken". But most impressing project of "Blackmail" is the guitar-player's band "Scumbucket". It's the finest Post-Grunge band you can get to hear. It's like a mix of "Queens Of The Stone Age", "Pink Floyd" and "Nirvana". You should really check these bands out. Such a great music has to be rewarded.

One more thing. Post-Grunge is my life. I want to become a musician and bring it with Post-Grunge onto the top. But I don't know if it's possible to get big with "only" wonderful and good music. In this century you need more than "only" good music.

There was a project in some schools of my town where the classes should write an newspaper article. My class had to write an newspaper article too. I'm in the 10th grade in a middle school. We had to choose five topics and the newspaper would tell us what we should write about. It's because many schools where involved in this project so that some classes could have taken the same topic. We wanted to take topics like: mobbing in schools, interviewing a football club coach or the risk of depts. When our teacher asked the class if someone has another topic I told him that "Music" would be cool.
After a week of idle time the newspaper told us that our topic would be music. I think that I was the only one in the class who was glad about it.
Now we thought of what we could write about. Our teacher made five groups in the class and every group should write a diffrent text. One group wrote about what parents think of music their children listen to, another group wrote about what pupil in the school listen to, ... and my group should write about a musician in our class. It was a suggestion of our class-teacher. And guess who we were writing about ... it was me. Of course I was glad about it because I couldn't find people for my own band and the newspaper would be good for finding some people to play with. We were writing about how I started to play piano until now. I don't want to beat around the bush so here is the article. Unfortunately on German and some changes to keep me anonymous:

Von der Klasse 10 c der *********Schule

FULDA Das Hobby „Musik“ wird bei Jugendlichen immer beliebter. So auch bei Roman. Roman ist ein 16-jähriger Schüler der **********Schule und besucht die Klasse 10 c. Er hat schon in seiner frühen Jugend das Hobby Musik für sich entdeckt. Mit fünf Jahren hat er angefangen, Klavier zu spielen. Mit sechs Jahren bekam er dann seine ersten Klavierstunden und schon nach kurzer Zeit bemerkte man sein Talent in der Musik. In der vierten Klasse trat er dem Schulchor bei. Auch dort war er erfolgreich. In der sechsten Klasse begann er Gitarre zu spielen. „Ich habe mir das Gitarrenspielen selber beigebracht“, verrät er.
Mit 13 Jahren trat Roman seiner ersten Band bei. „Wir haben Punk-Rock gemacht und selber Lieder geschrieben, die wir dann auf Partys vorgespielt haben“, sagt Roman. Mit 14 Jahren veränderte sich sein Musikgeschmack. „Ich bin von Punk-Rock auf Independent umgestiegen. Punk kam mir nicht mehr anspruchsvoll vor.“ Er fing an, eigene Lieder zu schreiben, welche bei Freunden und Bekannten gut ankamen. Nun spiele er ernsthaft mit dem Gedanken, Profi-Musiker zu werden. Im Moment ist Roman Mitglied der Schulband der ***********Schule, aber er sucht Leute für seine eigene Band.

Fulda Über seine musikalischen Zukunftspläne spricht Roman (16 Jahre).

Frage: Was für eine Vorstellung hast du von einer eigenen Band?
Roman: Ich stelle mir eine typische Besetzung vor. Es sollen zwei Gitarristen, ein Bassist und ein Schlagzeuger sein. Sie müssen schon Erfahrung mitbringen, denn die Lieder sind zum Teil technisch anspruchsvoll.

Frage: Was hat deinen Musikgeschmack in deiner bisherigen Entwicklung geprägt?
Roman: Im April 2004 sah ich einen Liveauftritt von Weezer im Fernsehen. Mich hat die Parallele zu meiner eigenen Musik inspiriert.

Frage: Welche Ziele strebst du an?
Roman: Ich möchte Berufsmusiker werden. Ich werde versuchen, eine Plattenfirma zu finden, um meine Songs zu veröffentlichen. Ich will von meinen Liedern leben.

Maybe you've heard of me, perhaps not. In the most forums I'm called "rs-weez" or "weez-rs". This nickname is coming from my favourite band "Weezer" and my initial. My nickname is actually "rs-weez" and not "weez-rs" but on weezernation they didn't send me an acceptation for "rs-weez" so I had to make a new registration with "weez-rs".
My real first name is "Roman". It's german like you can see but I'm just living in Germany. I was born in Ukraine. And my family as jewish refugees was allowed to go to Germany. I'm really glad about this because I think that I'll have a better life in Germany than I would ever have in Ukraine. But maybe you wonder why I'm writing in english.
English is a language most people understand and I want to share my thoughts with everyone from the world. Of course I will write some blogs in german too or I'm just planing to write some. This site is going to be like a diary. It's much easier to write your thoughts than to speak them out. Also this site is going to represent (maybe) my career (which even haven't begun) as whatever. My dream is to become a rockstar but there are many people with this dream so I better concentrate on other professions too.
In my further blogs I will tell you more about me. I hope you will visit my page regularly. When I have done some language mistakes please tell me that so I can correct them and improve my english.
